At recent’s launch, Xiaomi introduced the REDMI Pad 2 Pro Series in three trims: the standard REDMI Pad 2 Pro, the REDMI Pad 2 Pro Matte Glass Version, and the REDMI Pad 2 Pro 5G. All three share a roomy 12.1-inch 2.5K panel with up to 120Hz refresh, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a huge 12000mAh battery with 33W charging. The differences are subtle but meaningful—screen finish, connectivity, and ergonomics—so choosing the right one depends on your needs.
Display: Same size and specs, different surface choices
All variants feature a 12.1-inch 2560×1600 display, Dolby Vision color, DC dimming, and triple TÜV Rheinland certifications. Brightness reaches 500 nits (typical) and 600 nits (HBM), with 10-bit depth and a 1500:1 contrast ratio. The Matte Glass Version stands out with an AG nano-texture that reduces glare by up to 97%, giving a paper-like surface perfect for reading or sketching. The standard and 5G models keep the crystal-clear glossy look ideal for movies and games.
Performance and storage: Efficient power that scales
Each tablet runs the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (4nm) processor with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Available configurations are 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB, expandable up to 2TB. The chipset balances performance and efficiency, ensuring smooth multitasking, streaming, and gaming on the large display.
Connectivity and ecosystem: Wi-Fi for most, 5G when mobility matters
Powered by Xiaomi HyperOS, all models include smart features like Call sync, Shared clipboard, Network sync, and Home screen+. The standard and Matte Glass models offer Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, while the 5G version adds 5G + eSIM support for on-the-go internet without tethering.
Battery, audio, and design: Endurance and immersive sound
Each model packs a 12000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and 27W reverse charging. Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio deliver immersive sound, while a manual volume boost up to 300% helps in noisy environments. The metal unibody design weighs around 610g for Wi-Fi and 600g for the 5G model. Colors vary: Graphite Gray, Silver, and Lavender Purple for the standard version; Graphite Gray for Matte Glass; and Graphite Gray and Silver for the 5G model.
Accessories include the REDMI Smart Pen with 4096 pressure levels and ultra-low latency, the full-sized REDMI Pad 2 Pro Keyboard, and a protective cover with a built-in pen holder.
In conclusion, pick the Matte Glass Version if you prefer a glare-free, paper-like surface; go for the 5G model for always-connected use; or choose the standard REDMI Pad 2 Pro for the best value. Prices and availability vary by market, as confirmed by Xiaomi. Each version offers a large 120Hz display, strong battery life, and Dolby audio—making the REDMI Pad 2 Pro Series a well-balanced choice for entertainment and productivity.

Hello, you are writing that REDMI Pad 2 Pro 5G does not support tethering. If there will be nano SIM card is it possible to create wifi hotspot? How you ment tethering? With USB cable, or wifi-hotsport? Or tethering does not work only with eSIM? Thank you for clarification. I found at xiaomi page, that predecessor Redmi Pad 1 5G could do wifi hotspot with internet from SIM. Thank you
Hi! Thanks for your question. It’s not that the Redmi Pad Pro 5G doesn’t support tethering — it actually can connect to the internet directly via mobile data (using a nano SIM). What we meant is that it doesn’t require tethering from another device to get online.
So yes, when a nano SIM card is inserted, you can use its mobile data connection and also create a Wi-Fi hotspot to share that connection with other devices, just like on a phone.
Hope that clears it up!
Thank you for clarification! Greetings from Czech Republic :)
