Asus PadFone: After Taiwan, Where Next?

I am a bit late to show you the unique Android-based product from ASUS — the PadFone. Available in Taiwan since April 20, 2012, ASUS PadFone is a 4.3″ smartphone featuring a Super AMOLED qHD display. But the most selling point is the unique design which combines the function of a phone, a pad, as well as a notebook. Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core 1.5GHz processor, ASUS PadFone is able to transform into a 10.1 tablet or even further into an ultraportable computing device, thank to the PadFone Station and the optional keyboard dock. And the PadFone Stylus Headset can transform into a headset for picking up calls easily (see video below).

The Xtion is mentioned as the first whole-body montion control for PC. It utilizes uinque sensors for intuitive motion controls, with a user-friendly interface. Connecting to PCs through USB, Xtion motion sensor supports easy push, wave, and tap gestures to allow for quick access to motion-based games as well as movies, multimedia collections, photo galleries, and web browsers.

Xtion is compatible with various PC games, and suitable for an excellent local multiplayer experience without any additional hardware or controller required. ASUS also readiying Xtion store that offers a variety of items including games, entertainment, and other applications designed to make the most of whole-body interaction on PC. ASUS P1 Portable LED Projector — Tom & Jerry Could Play It!

Released by ASUS, the P1 Portable LED Projector was designed with business and entertainment use in mind. The compact projector is rated at 200 ANSI lumens and projects visuals in HD 1280 x 800. The mercury-free Eco-LED light source used in the P1 has a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours or equal to 20 years if the P1 was used 4 hours daily. Expected to be available in Q1 2012, the P1 weighs at just 415g, and has dimensions similar to a CD case (W125.5 x H33.5 x L130 mm).

Unlike the Slider that comes with slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Transformer has different approach with an optional docking station. Yes, it can turn the tablet into a full-fledged notebook too. And just like the Slider, the Transformer runs Andorid 3.0 OS and configured with NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, front (1.2MP) and rear (5MP) digital cameras. Regarding battery life, the Eee Pad Transformer can live up to 16 hours on a single charge.

Asus Readying Three Models eBook Readers

No doubt, it seems everyone starts joining eBook reader battle. And this year, Asus planned to offer three new models including DR-950, DR-570, and DR-750. The biggest one, DR950 features 9-inch E Ink touchscreen with 768 x 1024 resolution and 16 shades of grey. The DR-570 and DR-750 share the same screen size at 5.7-inch, but one is full color and another is monochrome. All models features text-to-speech functionality, web browser, handwriting recognition, and dictionary. Regarding connectivity, it suppprts both 3.5G and WiFi 802.11g. It also has a 4GB built-in memory plus a SD memory card slot for storage expansion. No words yet about the pricing, but it should be available in Q4 this year (DR-570). And last but not least the devices boast up to 4 days of battery life.
