Asus Readying Three Models eBook Readers

No doubt, it seems everyone starts joining eBook reader battle. And this year, Asus planned to offer three new models including DR-950, DR-570, and DR-750. The biggest one, DR950 features 9-inch E Ink touchscreen with 768 x 1024 resolution and 16 shades of grey. The DR-570 and DR-750 share the same screen size at 5.7-inch, but one is full color and another is monochrome. All models features text-to-speech functionality, web browser, handwriting recognition, and dictionary. Regarding connectivity, it suppprts both 3.5G and WiFi 802.11g. It also has a 4GB built-in memory plus a SD memory card slot for storage expansion. No words yet about the pricing, but it should be available in Q4 this year (DR-570). And last but not least the devices boast up to 4 days of battery life.

Aimed to deliver social reading experience, DMC Worldwide introduced suite of COPIA E-Readers: OCEAN and TIDAL. The devices will be available in monochrome and advanced color e-paper-based touchscreens and panels with robust Wi-Fi or 3G wireless connectivity that allow users to connect with the COPIA community to discover, enjoy, share and purchase digital content including books, newspapers and magazines. The COPIA e-readers will be available for purchase online in April 2010 and at retail by June 2010 with prices ranging from $199- $299 (MSRP).

Alex Dual-display Multimedia eReader [CES 2010]

Based on Andoroid, the Alex dual-display multimedia eReader will be on display at CES today but users can purchase the device starting February 22 for about $400. This eReader incorporates an open system that allows users to download any book or document that confomrs to the Adobe ePUB/PDF/DRM standard or .txt or HTML format. For connectivity, Alex supports WiFi, 3G, EVDO/CDMA and GSM.
