Unboxing: Sony Vaio Z12GN/B 4,634 views

Sony Vaio Z12GN/B

I spent $2,200 to get the new Sony Vaio Z12GN/B from VAIO ATMCOM store (local Sony dealer) at Ratu Plaza, Jakarta, and I thing I am the first customer of Z series in Indonesia, sure they called me as soon as this sleek, lightweight and powerful laptop arrived. Since Sony Unleashed the Z series back in July in the U.S., a month later I mentioned that I really want this laptop but i wonder when the Z will arrive in Indonesia. And a week later I realized that Sony has launched the Z series along with the SR and FW series at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta on 21st August 2008.

The Sony Vaio Z12GN/B comes with Windows Vista Business by default but it also packed with Windows XP SP2 CD installation in case we want to downgrade the OS. But unlike what it’s said that the Z series comes with 13.1″ LED backlit display (1600×900 resolution), my Z12 comes with 13.1 Wide (1600×900) TFT Color display, I wonder if these are the same specification or not, Sony please explain to me!

Important!
Be sure to create recovery discs immediately after your computer is ready for use because there are no recovery discs provided with the computer.

It’s strange note, why Sony doesn’t create one.

[...] I’m not sure weather the new Portege R600 is comparable to Vaio Z series, but it seems pretty cool. Featuring LED backlit display, this latest ultraportable laptop from Toshiba encased with plastic that make it ultralight at only 1 kg of weight (it’s lighter than Vaio Z). You may ask how much it costs, as you might expect, it’s priced at $2100 for the lowest configuration. I think it’s really comparable to Sony Vaio Z, price talk! [...]

  2. Portable Blu-Ray Super Multi Drive | Blog, Radio Blog, News Blog, Free Blog on 21 Oct 2008 at 10:38 pm

[...] Something that made me sad when I bought Sony Vaio Z12, it comes with DVD drive instead of Blu-Ray drive. The Blu-Ray version of Z doesn’t come to Indonesia, but it’s not the main reason that I prefer the DVD model. Someone told me that it’s better spend the extra $500 to buy PS3 instead of choosing the Blu-Ray version of Z. But now I found that I don’t have to spend $500 to get portable Blu-ray player, the cheaper one available at only $289: the Portable Blu-ray Super Multi Drive from AMEX Digital. [...]
